المسجدُthe mosque الأقصىAl-Aqsa (the farthest) رفيفُflutter حَنِينِهits yearning
المسجدُ الأقصى رفيفُ حَنِينِه
رَيَّاfragrance نَسِيمٍa breeze بالأًرِيجwith perfume مُحَمَّلladen
رَيَّا نَسِيمٍ بالأًرِيج مُحَمَّل
Al-Aqsa Mosque—the flutter of its yearning
The Aqsa Mosque, the whisper of its yearning
is the fragrance of a breeze laden with perfume.
Is a breeze laden with fragrance
المسْجِدُthe mosque الأقْصَىAl-Aqsa (the farthest) علىupon رَبواتِهits hills
المسْجِدُ الأقْصَى على رَبواتِه
ورحَابِهand its courts قَصصtales الهُدىguidance المتنَزِّلِsent down
ورحَابِه قَصص الهُدى المتنَزِّلِ
Al-Aqsa Mosque—upon its hills
The Aqsa Mosque, on its hills
and in its courts lie tales of guidance sent down.
And its sanctuaries, tales of revealed guidance
نورٌa light معwith التاريخhistory مُؤْتَلِقُradiant بهin it
نورٌ مع التاريخ مُؤْتَلِقُ به
يَغْنىis enriched بلألأةby the brilliance الهُداةِthe guides وينجليand shines clear
يَغْنى بلألأة الهُداةِ وينجلي
A light, radiant within it throughout history,
A light glowing with history
enriched by the brilliance of the guides, and shining clear.
Singing the splendor of the righteous guides
مَهْوىthe destination of قُلوبِhearts المؤمنينthe believers وand قِبْلَةٌa direction of prayer
مَهْوى قُلوبِ المؤمنين و قِبْلَةٌ
أولىfirst علىupon حَقٍّtruth نَدِيٍّdewy مُخْضَلِdew-drenched
أولى على حَقٍّ نَدِيٍّ مُخْضَلِ
The destination of believers' hearts, and a direction of prayer—
Beloved of the hearts of the faithful, and the first direction
the first—founded on truth, fresh and dew-drenched.
Rightfully, of an amiable, verdant call
وربىand hills ملألِئَةُsparkling يَشعّshines بهاin them الهُدىguidance
وربى ملألِئَةُ يَشعّ بها الهُدى
منfrom كلِّevery رُكْنcorner بالبَهاءِwith splendor مُجَلَّلِmantled
من كلِّ رُكْن بالبَهاءِ مُجَلَّلِ
And sparkling hills where guidance shines
And archangels dwell in it, guidance shines through it
from every corner mantled in splendor.
From every corner, adorned with splendor
شَعَّتْthey shone بأنوارwith the lights النبُوَّةprophethood وand ازدَهَتْgrew resplendent
شَعَّتْ بأنوار النبُوَّة و ازدَهَتْ
بمكبِّرٍwith one proclaiming God's greatness فيin سَاحهاtheir courts وand مهلِّلone proclaiming God's oneness
بمكبِّرٍ في سَاحها و مهلِّل
They shone with the lights of prophethood and grew resplendent
It shone with the lights of prophecy and was illuminated
with one proclaiming God's greatness in their courts, and one proclaiming His oneness.
With a magnifier in its expanse and a glorifier
ضَمّتthey embraced ميادينfields الجِهادِstruggle in God's cause وand فوّحَتwafted
ضَمّت ميادين الجِهادِ و فوّحَت
بالعطِرwith perfume مِنْfrom دمِblood صادقٍsincere مُسْتبْسِلِfearless
بالعطِر مِنْ دمِ صادقٍ مُسْتبْسِلِ
They embraced the fields of struggle and wafted
It brought together the arenas of jihad and exuded
perfume from the blood of one sincere and fearless.
The fragrance from the blood of the sincere and steadfast
هيthey ملكُthe possession of أُمّةِthe community of أحمدٍAhmad وand جنودِهhis soldiers
هي ملكُ أُمّةِ أحمدٍ و جنودِه
والسائرينand those who walk علىupon هُداهُhis guidance الأمْثَلِmost exemplary
والسائرين على هُداهُ الأمْثَلِ
They belong to Ahmad's community and his soldiers,
It is the possession of the nation of Ahmad and his soldiers
and those who walk upon his most perfect guidance:
And those who follow his ideal guidance
صفّاًa rank بَنَتْهُbuilt it رسالةٌa message فعلاso it rose بهاthrough it
صفّاً بَنَتْهُ رسالةٌ فعلا بها
للهِfor God ماwhat تبنيit builds بذاكthrough that وتعتليand rises high
للهِ ما تبني بذاك وتعتلي
a rank built by a message, rising high through it.
As ranks built by the message, through which
Glory to God for what it builds thereby, and how it rises!
Whatever is built for God arises and ascends
وتلفَّتَand looked around الأقصىAl-Aqsa وand بيْنَamid أنينِهits groaning
وتلفَّتَ الأقصى و بيْنَ أنينِه
وحنينِهِand its yearning شكوىa lament وand صرْخةُa cry of أعْزَلِone unarmed
وحنينِهِ شكوى و صرْخةُ أعْزَلِ
And Al-Aqsa looked around; amid its groaning
And the Aqsa turned, and between its groan
and its yearning were a lament and the cry of one unarmed.
And its yearning, a lament and the scream of one incapacitated
وكأنَّand as though صرخَتَهits cry تغيبُvanishes معwith المَدَىthe distance
وكأنَّ صرخَتَه تغيبُ مع المَدَى
يُطْوىis folded away الصّدىthe echo ويغيبُand disappears كلُّevery مؤمَّلhoped-for thing
يُطْوى الصّدى ويغيبُ كلُّ مؤمَّل
And its cry seemed to vanish into the distance;
It is as if its scream disappears into the horizon
the echo is folded away, and every hope disappears.
The echo is folded and every hope disappears
ودمٌand blood يسيلُflows كأنّهas though it were عَبقُthe fragrance of الجناthe gardens (word continues)
ودمٌ يسيلُ كأنّه عَبقُ الجنا
نِcompletion of 'gardens' ونفْحَةُand the breath الأمَلِhope النديّdewy الأجْملِmost beautiful
نِ ونفْحَةُ الأمَلِ النديّ الأجْملِ
And blood flows, as though it were the fragrance of the gardens
And blood flows as if the scent of paradise
and the breath of hope, dewy and most beautiful.
And the breeze of beautiful, amiable hope
ودمٌand blood يسيلflows! ودمعةٌand a tear تنسَابُstreams فيin
ودمٌ يسيل! ودمعةٌ تنسَابُ في
عُتبىreproach علىat صمتٍsilence مُبينٍplain مُذهِلِbewildering
عُتبى على صمتٍ مُبينٍ مُذهِلِ
And blood flows! And a tear streams in
Blood flows! And a teardrop streams
reproach at a silence so plain and bewildering.
In complaint over evident, shocking silence
ودمٌand blood يَسِيلُflows ! ولَفْتَةٌand a glance ! فأَشَاحَthen it turned away عَنْfrom
ودمٌ يَسِيلُ ! ولَفْتَةٌ ! فأَشَاحَ عَنْ
سَاحٍcourts تَمُوجُsurge علىamid هَوَانٍhumiliation مُخْجِلshameful
سَاحٍ تَمُوجُ على هَوَانٍ مُخْجِل
And blood flows! And a glance! Then it turned away from
Blood flows! And a glance! So it turned away
courts seething amid shameful humiliation.
From a field raging in shameful defeat
المسجِدُthe mosque الأقْصَىAl-Aqsa (the farthest) ! فياso, alas لأَنينِهfor its groaning
المسجِدُ الأقْصَى ! فيا لأَنينِه
وحنينهِand its yearning وإِسارِهand its captivity المتذَلَّلabject
وحنينهِ وإِسارِه المتذَلَّل
Al-Aqsa Mosque! Alas for its groaning,
The Aqsa Mosque! What a groan
and its yearning, and its abject captivity!
Is its, and its yearning and humility!
وتلفّتَand looked around الأقْصىAl-Aqsa! وand مكّةُMecca بالهوىwith love
وتلفّتَ الأقْصى! و مكّةُ بالهوى
ترْنوgazes وطيبةُand Taybah، بالحنينِwith yearning الأوَّلِthe first
ترْنو وطيبةُ، بالحنينِ الأوَّلِ
And Al-Aqsa looked around, while Mecca, with love,
And the Aqsa turned! And Mecca yearns
gazed—and Taybah, with its earliest yearning.
And Medina, with the first longing
للهto God درُّexcellence (in praise) منائرٍminarets طَلَعَdawned الهُدىguidance
لله درُّ منائرٍ طَلَعَ الهُدى
منْهاfrom them وعمَّand pervaded الكوْنَthe universe بالنورِwith light الجليclear
منْها وعمَّ الكوْنَ بالنورِ الجلي
How splendid the minarets! Guidance dawned
Praise God for the minarets from which guidance emerged
from them, filling the universe with clear light.
And filled the universe with manifest light
المسجدُthe mosque الأقصىAl-Aqsa (the farthest)! ولهْفَةُand the longing of مكّةٍMecca
المسجدُ الأقصى! ولهْفَةُ مكّةٍ
وحنينُand the yearning of طيْبَةَTaybah! ياO منائرminarets أقْبِليcome forth
وحنينُ طيْبَةَ! يا منائر أقْبِلي
Al-Aqsa Mosque! And Mecca's longing,
The Aqsa Mosque! And Mecca's yearning
and Taybah's yearning! O minarets, come forth!
And Medina's longing! O minarets, come
شُدِّيhold fast علىto العَهْدِthe covenant الموثّقِfirmly sealed وand انهضيrise
شُدِّي على العَهْدِ الموثّقِ و انهضي
للهِfor God فيin زحْفٍan advance أبَرَّmost righteous مُعَجَّلhastened
للهِ في زحْفٍ أبَرَّ مُعَجَّل
Hold fast to the firmly sealed covenant, and rise
Hold fast to the covenant and rise
for God, in a most righteous, hastened advance.
For God in a march, most dutiful
زحفٍan advance يَضمُّgathers المؤمنينthe believers! يشقُّcleaves دَرْa path (word continues)
زحفٍ يَضمُّ المؤمنين! يشقُّ دَرْ
بَcompletion of 'path' النّصرvictory ! يجْلوreveals منsome of مناهُits hopes وand يجْتَليbeholds clearly
بَ النّصر ! يجْلو من مناهُ و يجْتَلي
An advance that gathers the believers, cleaving a path
A march that brings together the faithful! That splits
to victory, bringing some of its hopes to light and beholding them.
The path of victory! That drives away its difficulties!
الكونthe universe كلُّall الكونِthe universe فوْقَabove قبابهاtheir domes
الكون كلُّ الكونِ فوْقَ قبابها
نورٌa light يموجُsurges وآيةand the sign of اللهGod العَليMost High
نورٌ يموجُ وآية الله العَلي
The universe—all the universe—above their domes
The whole universe, above its domes
is a surging light, and the sign of God Most High.
A light billows, and God's supreme sign
