فإِن يَذكُرِ النُّعمانُ سَعيي وسَعيَهُم

فإِن يَذكُرِ النُّعمانُ سَعيي وسَعيَهُم

يَكُن خُطَّةً يَكفي ويَسعَى بِعَمَّال

يَكُن خُطَّةً يَكفي ويَسعَى بِعَمَّال

For if al-Nuʿmān remembers my efforts and theirs,

it will be a plan that suffices, and he will strive through a tireless worker.

فَعُدتُ كَذا نُجح يُرَجَّي نُصُورَهُ

فَعُدتُ كَذا نُجح يُرَجَّي نُصُورَهُ

يَبينُ فلا يَبعُد كَذي الخَلَقِ الباَلي

يَبينُ فلا يَبعُد كَذي الخَلَقِ الباَلي

So I returned thus—a success whose aid is hoped for—

departing, yet not going far, like one in a worn, threadbare garment.
