ولاand do not تَكُbe فيin الإِلحاحِpersistence فيin إثرِthe wake of فائِتٍsomething lost
ولا تَكُ في الإِلحاحِ في إثرِ فائِتٍ
تُحاوِلُyou seek مِنهُfrom it فائِتاًsomething lost لَيسَis not يُطلَبُsought
تُحاوِلُ مِنهُ فائِتاً لَيسَ يُطلَبُ
And do not persist in pursuing what is lost,
Do not persist in pursuing what is past and gone,
Seeking to reclaim from it what is beyond recovery,
Seeking what has slipped beyond your grasp;
كَصَانِعَةِlike a maker of القَزِّsilk الَّتيwho كُلَّماwhenever ارتَدَتshe clothed herself
كَصَانِعَةِ القَزِّ الَّتي كُلَّما ارتَدَت
بِصنعَتِهاin her handiwork كانَتshe was إلَىtoward اللَّبثِremaining confined أَقرَبُcloser
بِصنعَتِها كانَت إلَى اللَّبثِ أَقرَبُ
Like the silk-maker, who, whenever she clothes herself
Like a spinner of raw silk who finds, the more she toils,
In her own handiwork, draws nearer to confinement.
Her thread prone to tangle and harder to wrap.
