ومَن لا يُوَرِّع نَفسَهُ يَتبَعِ الهَوَى

ومَن لا يُوَرِّع نَفسَهُ يَتبَعِ الهَوَى

ومَن يَتبَعِ الَحرباءَ يَغشَ القَناذِعا

ومَن يَتبَعِ الَحرباءَ يَغشَ القَناذِعا

And whoever does not restrain himself follows desire.

Who follows not his conscience is swayed by desire,

And whoever follows the chameleon comes to the mountain peaks.

And he who chases after war, receives but paltry gain.
