وأَطفِand quench حَديثَtalk السُّوءevil بالصَّمتِwith silence إنَّهُfor it
وأَطفِ حَديثَ السُّوء بالصَّمتِ إنَّهُ
مَتَىwhenever يُؤرَis kindled ناراًa fire لِلعِتابِfor reproach تَأَجَّجاit blazes up
مَتَى يُؤرَ ناراً لِلعِتابِ تَأَجَّجا
And quench ill talk with silence, for it
And silence the evil talk, for it
blazes up whenever kindled into a fire of reproach.
Whenever aroused, ignites blaming flames
