باعُ مِنها فجانِبُ الثَّرثارِ
Al-Hadr lay desolate, bereft of Nadirah, and al-Mir—
The desolate town is devoid of water even during rain
—baʿ, bereft of her, and the bank of al-Tharthar,
Everything that bubbled and bubbled is sold and gone
إذwhen تَواصَواthey warned one another بِالكَبشِabout the ram لَمّاwhen أَحَسُّthey sensed—
إذ تَواصَوا بِالكَبشِ لَمّا أَحَسُّ
وهُ—it (completes “they sensed it”) وقالُواand they said مَعَamid الحِذارِcaution حَذارِbeware!
وهُ وقالُوا مَعَ الحِذارِ حَذارِ
when they warned one another about the ram, once they sensed—
When they conspired about the ram at the time I sensed
—it, and said amid their caution, “Beware!”
It was him they were talking about, cautiously, cautiously
