ولشُؤم البَغي والغشم قِدماً

ما خَلاَ جَوفٌ وَلم يَبَق حِمَار

ما خَلاَ جَوفٌ وَلم يَبَق حِمَار

And through the ill fortune of oppression and tyranny, long ago,

For misfortune, tyranny, and oppression, two feet

Jawf became deserted, and Himar was no more.

There remains no inside but the donkey is gone
