حَنتيhave bent me حانِياتُbending afflictions الدَّهرof time حَتَّىuntil
كأَنِّيas though I am خاتِلٌa stealthy hunter يَدنُوdraws near لِصَيدِto prey
Time's bending afflictions have bowed me, until
I seem a stealthy hunter drawing near to prey.
قَريبُshort الخَطوِof stride يَحَسبُthinks مَنwhoever رآنيsaw me
ولَستُand I am not مُقَيَّداًfettered أَنَّىthat I am بِقَيدِin chains
Short of stride, whoever sees me thinks—
though I am not fettered—that I am in chains.
