كَرَبَاعٍlike a beast with four permanent incisors لاَحَهُmade it lean تَعداؤُهُits running
كَرَبَاعٍ لاَحَهُ تَعداؤُهُ
سَبِطٍlong and straight أَكرعُهُits legs فيهِin it طَرَقfat; bodily strength
سَبِطٍ أَكرعُهُ فيهِ طَرَق
Like a four-toothed beast, worn lean by its running,
Long and straight of leg, with flesh on its frame,
أَصمَعِsmall and fine الكَعبينِthe two hocks مَهضُومِhollowed الحشَاthe belly
أَصمَعِ الكَعبينِ مَهضُومِ الحشَا
سَرطَمِbroad اللَّحيَينِthe two jaws مَعّاجٍswaying in its run تَئِقfull-bodied
سَرطَمِ اللَّحيَينِ مَعّاجٍ تَئِق
Small-hocked and hollow-bellied,
Broad-jawed, swaying in its run, full-bodied.
