    دارك لما اتيتها الخطرا

    In short, I ventured to

    your house, braving danger when I came.

  2. لبست دراعتي وعمتي ال

    خز فصارا كما ترى حبرا

    I wore my robe and my turban of

    silk; both became, as you see, striped cloth.

  3. أصبحت في الطين عقعقاً بلقاً

    وإن تعريت خلتني نمرا

    In the mud I became a piebald magpie,

    and if I stripped naked, you would take me for a leopard.
