فمنso who ليfor me بمالwith the wealth of البحتريal-Buhturi وعمرهand his lifespan
فمن لي بمال البحتري وعمره
I was endowed with al-Buhturi’s natural gift and verse—
And I was given al-Buhturi's innate talent and his poetry;
but who will grant me al-Buhturi’s wealth and years?
