Drink, you two, and give drink to a youth who keeps company with the days,

with a soul full of desires.

والنفوس الكبار تأنف للسا

والنفوس الكبار تأنف للسا

دة أن يشربوا بغير الكبار

دة أن يشربوا بغير الكبار

And great souls deem it beneath the lords

to drink from anything but large cups.

في جوار الصبا نحلّ بيوتاً

في جوار الصبا نحلّ بيوتاً

عمرت بالغصون والأقمار

عمرت بالغصون والأقمار

In the precincts of youth, we dwell in houses

filled with boughs and moons.

وتصلي على أذان للطنابير

وتصلي على أذان للطنابير

ونصغي لنغمة الأوتار

ونصغي لنغمة الأوتار

And you pray at the tanburs' call to prayer,

and we listen to the melody of the strings,

بين قوم إمامهم ساجد

بين قوم إمامهم ساجد

للكأس أو راكع على المزمار

للكأس أو راكع على المزمار

among people whose imam is prostrate

before the cup, or bowing over the reed pipe.
