أَنلني من عطاياك الجزيله

Hearken, O exalted king,

O exalted King, pray grant

grant me some of your bountiful gifts.

Your generous gifts to me.

بعبدك حُرمةٌ والّكر فحشٌ

بعبدك حُرمةٌ والّكر فحشٌ

فلا تُحوِج إلى ذكر الوسيله

فلا تُحوِج إلى ذكر الوسيله

Your servant has a claim to respect, and mentioning it is indecent;

For servitude has dignity—begging is base;

so do not force me to state the grounds of my appeal.

Spare me the need to plead my case.
