Drunk with delight, he greets the supplicant, beaming;
Joyfully he meets his beloved, swaying,
His sides sway at words of praise.
Trembling with praise of her, his sides shake.
وإذاand when أصاخَhe listens attentively إلىto المديحِpraise رَأَيتَهyou see him
وإذا أصاخَ إلى المديحِ رَأَيتَه
وكأنand as though مالكMalik طيِّئِof Tayy غنَّاهُsang to him
وكأن مالك طيِّئِ غنَّاهُ
And when he listens to praise, you see him
And when he sings in praise you'd think him
As though Malik of Tayy had sung to him.
Like Malik or Ti'i reciting verse.
