يَروي أقاحِيه من مُدَامِ فمِه
By God, part the carnelian to reveal hailstones,
In God's name, break the crystal over chilled wine
whose daisies he waters with the wine of his mouth.
That moistens his cheeks from the spout of his mouth.

وامسح غوالي العِذَارِ عن قَمَرٍ

نقطض بالوردِ خَدَّ مُلتثمه
And wipe the precious perfumes of cheek-down from a moon
And wipe my dark curls from a moon's face
that [dotted] his kisser’s cheek with roses.
That plucks roses, kissing his sweetly shut lips.

دَعهُ واشرك حَشايَ في سَقَمهِ
Say to the sickness in his eye:
Say to the sickness in his eyes that watch me-
“Spare him, and let my inmost heart share his sickness.”
Leave him be, and share in my lovesick heart.

Every passion whose temptation is feared
Every passion whose mischief you fear
lies [between] his glances and his smile.
Is built by his glances and smiling at me.
