And did you not turn from farewell with burning grief
O you who turned away from farewell in sorrow,
That filled your breast with longing and burning thirst,
Filling your thoughts with youth and anguish,
ومدامعٍand weeping eyes تجريstream فيحسبُso one supposes أنthat فيin

And streaming eyes, so one might think that in
With tears flowing, so it seems in their depths
Their inner corners were the fingertips of Ismail?
Are the children of Ishmael.
ياO أيهاyou القرمُnoble chief الذيwho بعلوِّهِthrough his eminence
نالattained العَلاءُglory منfrom الزمانِTime السُّولاthe desired boon
O noble chief, through whose eminence
O exalted mountain whose height
Glory won from Time its heart’s desire,
Brought glory to the time of old,
قَسَمتapportioned يداكyour two hands علىamong الوَرَىhumankind أرزاقهاtheir livelihoods

Your two hands apportioned humankind their livelihoods,
Your hands have divided its grace among the lands
So they named you Qasim, the distributor of their sustenance whom they petition.
So you have become the giver of its destined shares.

It offered your glory an embroidered robe
You have given your glory a garment embroidered
That clothes the envious in gloom and withering.
To clothe the envious in gloom and fading,
أحيَتit revived حبيباًHabib والوليدَand al-Walid ففصَّلاand the two fashioned

It revived Habib and al-Walid, and the two fashioned
You have revived a beloved and Al-Walid who distinguished
From it the strands of its weave, in fine detail.
Themselves in it and spread tales of its weaving,

Thus al-Ta’i lent it the subtlety of his thought,
So Al-Tai brought it wit’s refinement
And al-Buhturi, grace and charm.
And Al-Buhturi grace and acceptance.
