    O man infatuated with youth,

what has a long-lived man of seventy to do with dalliance?

How long will you remain enamored of an aged woman

who now renews herself like a fine Yemeni blade?

Majesty has adorned her perfection, and firmly rooted in her

are wisdom, virtue, and the disposition of a master.

She withheld her favors from you when you both were

callow, in pursuit of graceful youth.

And now you hope that a favor from her may reach you?

Far from it—her favor lies where Farqad, the polar star, stands.
