أَعَيَّرتُمونيHave you taunted me? أَنbecause دَعَتنيcalled me أَخاهُمُtheir brother
سُلَيمٌSulaym وَأَعطَتنيand gave me بِأَيمانِهاwith its oaths سَعدُSa'd
Have you taunted me for being called their brother
by Sulaym, while Sa'd gave me its sworn pledge?
فَكُنتُso I was وَسيطاًof noble standing فيamong سُلَيمٍSulaym مُعاقِداًentering an alliance
لِسَعدٍwith Sa'd وَسَعدٌand Sa'd ماnot يُحَلُّis undone لَهاfor it عَقدُa pact
Thus I held noble standing among Sulaym, bound by an alliance
with Sa'd—and no pact of Sa'd is undone.
صَبَبتُI poured عَلَيكُمupon you حاصِبيmy hail of stones فَتَركتُكُمand so left you
كَأَصرامِlike the scattered clans of عادٍ'Ad حينَwhen جَلَّلَهاshrouded it الرُمدُthe dust-laden winds
I poured my hail of stones upon you and left you
like the scattered clans of 'Ad when dust-laden winds shrouded them.
