أحق بيت من بيوت الورى

بصونه قدما وايثاره

The house most worthy among all the houses of humankind

of care and preference, from of old,

بيت إذا ما زاره زائر

فقد قضى أعظم أوطاره

is one whose visitor, whenever he comes,

has fulfilled his greatest needs.

وهو إذا ما كان مستنطفا

مروة الانسان في داره

And, when it is kept clean, it is

a man's dignity within his home.

يدخله المولى بخز كما

يدخله العبد بأطماره

The master enters it in silk, just as

the slave enters it in his rags.
