And a place to sit for all to gather
on four legs firmly secured in the earth.
Fixed to the ground on four stakes
يمدit spreads علىover فرعهits top مفرشاa covering
يمد على فرعه مفرشا
ويظهرand it displays فيat خصرa waist منطقهits belt
ويظهر في خصر منطقه
It spreads a covering over its top,
Extending its branch like a carpet
and displays its belt at its waist.
Its waist revealed like a belt
فمنso whoever شاءwishes صيرهmakes it مقعداa seat
فمن شاء صيره مقعدا
ومنand whoever شاءwishes صيرهmakes it مرفقهhis elbow-rest
ومن شاء صيره مرفقه
Whoever wishes makes it a seat,
For anyone wishing a seat
and whoever wishes makes it his elbow-rest.
Or anyone seeking a rest
إذاwhen ظلkeeps on ينشدreciting ماwhat قدalready طواهhe folded it away
إذا ظل ينشد ما قد طواه
أرىhe showed الحاضرينthose present بماwith what أوسقهhe loaded it
أرى الحاضرين بما أوسقه
When he keeps reciting what he has folded away,
Remaining to sing of what it holds
he shows those present what he has laden it with:
I see those present moved by its gift
