وذي أذنين لا تعيان قولا

وجوف للحوائج ذي احتمال

And a thing with two ears that understand no speech,

With ears that hear not a word

and a belly with room for necessities.

And a body that bears life's burdens

تكلف شغل أهل البيت طرا

تكلف شغل أهل البيت طرا

وتحمل فيه أقوات العيال

وتحمل فيه أقوات العيال

It has taken on the work of the whole household,

You tirelessly work for your household

and in it you carry the family's provisions.

And provide for your dependents

مطيع في الحوائج غير عاص

مطيع في الحوائج غير عاص

ولا شاك اليك من الكلال

ولا شاك اليك من الكلال

Obedient in its tasks, never disobedient,

Obedient in their needs, never disobeying

nor complaining to you of weariness.

No complaint of weariness from you

تسر اليه في الاسواق سرا

تسر اليه في الاسواق سرا

فلا يبديه الا في الرحال

فلا يبديه الا في الرحال

You confide a secret to it in the markets,

Willingly you go to the markets for them

and it reveals it only in the dwellings.
