1. جوذابة فوارة

    في دهنها المنسكب

    A bubbling jūdhāba,

    in its flowing fat,

  2. كأنها قد ركبت

    في جامها بلولب

    as though it had been mounted

    in its bowl with a screw.

  3. لائحة في أهبها

    آثار عض اللهب

    Visible upon its skins

    are traces of the flame’s bite—

  4. كنقرة من فضة

    في حقه من ذهب

    like an ingot of silver

    in a casket of gold.
