أَلاbehold لاnot أُباليI care فيin العُلىgreatness ماwhatever أَصابَنيbefalls me
وَإِنand even if نَقِبَتwore through نَعلايَmy two sandals أَوor حَفِيَتwas worn raw رِجليmy foot
Behold, I care not what befalls me in pursuit of greatness,
even if my sandals wear through or my foot is worn raw.
فَلَمfor ... did not تَرَsee عَينيmy eye قَطُّever أَحسَنَmore beautiful مَنظَراًa sight
مِنَthan النَكبِthe wound from stumbling يَدمىbleeds فيin المُواساةِhelping others وَالبَذلِand giving
For never has my eye seen a finer sight
than a wound bleeding for the sake of helping others and giving.
وَلَستُand I am not أُباليI care مَنwho تَأَوَّبَvisits by night مَنزِليmy home
إِذاif بَقِيَتremain عِنديwith me السَراويلُthe trousers أَوor نَعليmy sandal
And I care not who visits my home by night,
so long as my trousers or my sandal remain with me.
