Generosity has left him nothing but his habit of giving.

And neither falsehood nor broken faith has marred his promise.

So he is not blamed for squandering, out of generosity,

his dead [as written]; what he has not given away is lost.

Preserving honor pains the heart of its possessor.

And the infatuated, lovesick man is enthralled by love.
