يا ماعز الكُرّات قد خزيتا
لقدindeed خُدعتyou were deceived ولقدand indeed هُجيتاyou were lampooned
لقد خُدعت ولقد هُجيتا
O he-goat of the leeks, you have been disgraced!
O goat of marbles, you have brought shame
You have indeed been duped, and indeed lampooned.
You have been deceived and you have been insulted
كِدتَyou nearly تخصيناcastrate us فقدbut now indeed خصيباfertile; likely a misprint for 'you were castrated'
كِدتَ تخصينا فقد خصيبا

وكنت ذا حظ فقد محيتا
You nearly castrated us; now [apparently] you have been castrated.
You almost deprived us, for you have been castrated
You once had good fortune; now you have been erased.
You used to be lucky, but now you are erased

Alas for you! You did not know whose fire you faced,
Woe to you, you did not know with whom you have prayed
Nor what stone you were struck with.
Nor against which rock you have cast

If you see al-Mazid, the swooping one,
If you see more absurdities
Riding a wide-jawed, huge-mouthed, gaping mount,
Riding cheek to cheek, you flee
