فصلَّىso may ... bless المليكُthe Sovereign ولىُّthe Guardian of العبادِthe servants
وربُّand Lord of البلادthe lands علىupon أحْمدِAhmad

فكيفhow, then الحياةُlife لفقْدِwith the loss of الحبيبthe beloved
وزَيْنand the adornment of المعاشِرthe groups of people فىin المَشْهدِthe gathering
How, then, can life go on with the loss of the beloved,
How can life go on without the Beloved,
And the adornment of the people in assembly?
And the adornment of all company at the scene.
فليتَthen, if only المماتَdeath لناfor us كلِّناall of us
وكنَّاand we were جميعاًall together معwith المهتدِىthe rightly guided one
If only, then, death were for us all,
If only death would take us altogether,
And we were all together with the rightly guided one.
And we would all be with the Rightly Guided.
