جرىflowed السَيلُthe torrent فاستبكانيَand so made me weep السَيلُthe torrent إذas جرىflowed
جرى السَيلُ فاستبكانيَ السَيلُ إذ جرى
وفاضتand overflowed لهfor it منfrom مقلتيَّmy two eyes غُروبُstreams of tears
وفاضت له من مقلتيَّ غُروبُ
The torrent flowed, and the torrent made me weep as it flowed.
The torrent flowed, so the torrent made me weep
And for it, streams of tears poured from my eyes.
And tears from my eyelids for it overflowed.
يكونit is أجاجاًbitterly salty دونكمbefore reaching you فإذاbut when انتهىit reached
يكون أجاجاً دونكم فإذا انتهى
إليكمto you تلقَّىit received طِيبكمyour sweetness فيَطيبُand so becomes sweet
إليكم تلقَّى طِيبكم فيَطيبُ
It is bitterly salty before reaching you; but when it reaches
It passes turbid by the other men, but then
you, it receives your sweetness and becomes sweet.
It clears up at your place and becomes sweet.
