Is it beautiful or ugly,

With good or with evil?

Good scent or announcing good news

ليت شعري كيف حالي

كيف إحضاري وحَشري

كيف إحضاري وحَشري

If only I knew how I shall fare,

I wonder how my state is

How I shall be summoned and gathered.

How my coming and being resurrected is

أتُرى يَقبَلُ قولي

أتُرى يَقبَلُ قولي

أم تُرى يَشرَحُ صدري

أم تُرى يَشرَحُ صدري

Will He, I wonder, accept my words,

Will my words really be accepted

Or, I wonder, expand my breast?

Or will my chest really expand

If only I knew where I am going:

I wonder where I will go

To bliss, or to glowing embers?

To blessing or embers

فدعو مدحي ووصفي

فدعو مدحي ووصفي

فأنا أعرف قَدريَ

فأنا أعرف قَدريَ

So stop praising and describing me,

So leave my praise and my description

For I know my worth.
