And the cup rained down water from its ewers,

Making pearls spring forth in a land of gold.

The company cried “Glory be!” when they beheld a marvel:

Light born of water, within fire born of grapes—

A choice wine inherited by ʿĀd from Iram,

Once Khosrow’s treasure, passed from father to father.
