ومن جنّةٍ قد أوقعت في جهنم

Who will defend me against laughter that became the cause of weeping,

My excuse is a laugh that became a reason for crying

And against a paradise that has cast me into Hell?

And a paradise that made me fall into hell

لأنّكِ لا تروين بيتاً لشاعرٍ

لأنّكِ لا تروين بيتاً لشاعرٍ

سوى بيت من لم يظلم الناس يظلم

سوى بيت من لم يظلم الناس يظلم

Because you recite no verse by any poet

Because you do not quench the home of a poet

Except the verse: “Whoever does not wrong people is wronged.”

Except the home of one who did not oppress people, he is oppressed
