O soul, die, for sorrow has grown intense—die!

You were not the first luckless lover.

The day of parting struck my union and scattered it.

May my Lord strike it with division and dispersal.

He wept before me on the morning of parting, when he saw

My tears overflowing, and my state that of one stunned.

So my tear is molten ruby upon gold,

And his tears are molten pearls above ruby.
