Many a night I unveiled with the radiance of wi—

—ne, until I left it bright as day,

beneath a sky like lavender, with stars

shining like narcissus and bahār blossoms,

and a crescent gleaming on the forearm of the Wes—

—t, like a silver armlet or bracelet.

All night, by it, I burnished the suns of faces

that bore, through the darkness, suns of wine.
