لا تَحْسَبوا أَنَّني باغٍ بِكُمْ بَدَلاً

وَلَوْ تَمَكَنْتُ من صَبْري ومن جَلَدي

وَلَوْ تَمَكَنْتُ من صَبْري ومن جَلَدي

Do not think that I seek another in your stead,

Do not think that I seek a substitute for you,

Do not think that I am hostile towards you or bear you any ill will

even if I could command my patience and fortitude.

Even if I had command of my patience and my fortitude.

Even if I could control my patience and composure

قَلْبي رَقيبٌ عَلى قَلْبي لَكُمْ أَبَداً

قَلْبي رَقيبٌ عَلى قَلْبي لَكُمْ أَبَداً

والعَيْنُ عَيْنٌ عَلَيْهِ آَخِرَ الأَبَدِ

والعَيْنُ عَيْنٌ عَلَيْهِ آَخِرَ الأَبَدِ

My heart forever keeps watch over my heart for you,

My heart is forever a watcher over my heart for you,

My heart is forever your guardian

and my eye is its vigilant watcher until the end of time.

And the eye is a spy upon it until eternity’s end.

And my eye keeps watch until the end of time
