As though the stars of the Pleiades, to one
It is as though the stars of the Pleiades, to one
The stars of Thurayya seem to one
who gazes at them while darkness closes in,
Who gazes at them while darkness is all-enveloping,
who beholds them, while darkness enshrouds,

were a miser’s wealth, which he keeps amassing
Were a miser’s wealth that he keeps gathering
like wealth of a miser, who goes on piling it,
from every quarter, never to be dispersed.
From every quarter, and that never disperses.
acquiring from every side, but never spends.
