بِقاعٌtracts of land أَشْرَقَتْshone فَكَأَنَّso it was as though فيهاwithin them
بِقاعٌ أَشْرَقَتْ فَكَأَنَّ فيها
وَميضَflash البَرْقِthe lightning مِنْfrom فَرْطِexcess البَريقِthe brilliance
وَميضَ البَرْقِ مِنْ فَرْطِ البَريقِ
Tracts of land shone, as though they held
Lightning’s flash, such was their brilliance.
وأَوْديةٌand valleys كَأَنَّas though الزَّهْرَthe flowers فيهاwithin them
وأَوْديةٌ كَأَنَّ الزَّهْرَ فيها
يَوَاقيتُrubies تُفَصَّلُare interspersed بِالعَقيقِwith agate
يَوَاقيتُ تُفَصَّلُ بِالعَقيقِ
And valleys, as though the flowers within them
Were rubies interspersed with agate.
لَهاfor them حَصْباءُpebbles كَالكافورِlike camphor بُثَّتْwere scattered
لَها حَصْباءُ كَالكافورِ بُثَّتْ
عَلىupon تُرْبٍsoil خُلِقْنَthey were fashioned مِنَfrom الخَلوقِkhalūq (saffron-based perfume)
عَلى تُرْبٍ خُلِقْنَ مِنَ الخَلوقِ
They have pebbles like camphor, strewn
Upon soil; they were fashioned from saffron perfume.
