I do not care if I lay upon my brothers

I care not if I burden my brothers

my burden, and make easing burdens my creed,

With my weight, and give ease through lightening myself,

ورفضت الكثير من كل شيء

ورفضت الكثير من كل شيء

وتقنعت بالقليل اللطيف

وتقنعت بالقليل اللطيف

and renounce abundance in everything,

And reject much of everything,

and content myself with a little that is pleasing,

And content myself with the little that is exquisite.

ورآني الأنام طراً بعي

ورآني الأنام طراً بعي

ني زاهد في وضيعهم والشريف

ني زاهد في وضيعهم والشريف

and all humankind sees me with the eyes

And people see me with my inner eye,

of an ascetic, indifferent to the lowly and noble among them.

Indifferent to their baseness and nobility.

أنا عبد الصديق ما صدق الو

أنا عبد الصديق ما صدق الو

I am my friend's slave so long as affection is sincere;

I am a servant of the Sincere Friend, sincerely devoted,

and some people are slaves to a loaf of bread.

While some people are servants of bread.
