O, who will help a lovesick, grief-stricken heart,
O you whose heart is infatuated and in ruins
A captive held in pledge, hemmed in by loss?
Suffering held captive by loss

I chide it, but it will not be deterred
I deter it, yet it is not deterred
From her; my eye keeps company with sleeplessness.
From her, while my eyes are shedding tears

She walks gently when she walks in a single garment,
She walks in glory when she walks
With the gait of a tottering man, breathless on an uphill slope.
The walk of the awe-struck in rough terrain
