They made me forget my companions as morning unveiled its face,
They paid no heed to their companions when the morning light shone forth,
They distracted me from my brothers when morning departed,
while in my liver a fire burns from their ardor.
and in my liver is a blaze from their heat.
and in my heart from their heat there was burning.

I mingled blood with tears, until it seemed
I mixed blood with tears, until it was as though
I mixed blood with tears until it was as if
that pearl and carnelian were melting in my eyes.
pearls and agate were being melted in my eye.
pearls and rubies were melting in my eyes.
