يَقولُhe says والسَوطُand the whip عَلىon كَفّهِhis palm
يَقولُ والسَوطُ عَلى كَفّهِ
قَدalready حَزَّcut فيin جِلدَتِهاher skin حَزّاa gash
قَد حَزَّ في جِلدَتِها حَزّا
He says, while the whip in his hand
He says, with the whip in his palm,
has cut a gash in her skin,
having cut a gash in her skin,
وَهيَand she عَلىon السُلّمِthe ladder مَشدودةbound
وَهيَ عَلى السُلّمِ مَشدودة
وأَنتand you أَيضاًtoo فاسرقيthen steal الخُبزاthe bread
وأَنت أَيضاً فاسرقي الخُبزا
as she stands bound to the ladder,
while she is bound to the ladder:
“And you too—steal the bread.”
"And you too—then steal the bread!"
