يُصَبرنيurges me to be patient قَرمٌa nobleman بُراءٌfree مِنَfrom الهَوىlove
يُصَبرني قَرمٌ بُراءٌ مِنَ الهَوى
وَلَلصَّبرand indeed patience has تاراتmoments أَمرُّmore bitter مِنthan الصبرِaloes
وَلَلصَّبر تارات أَمرُّ مِن الصبرِ
An eminent man, untouched by love, counsels me to endure;
A nobleman untouched by love urges me to be patient.
A chaste love would give me patience
yet patience is sometimes bitterer than aloe.
And indeed, patience has moments more bitter than aloes.
Yet patience is more bitter than impatience
