الخُبزُ يُبطي حينَ يُدعي بِهِ

كَأَنَّما يُقَدَّمُ مِن قافِ

The bread is slow to arrive when called for,

As if it were being brought from Mount Qaf,

وَيَمدَحُ المِلحَ لِإِخوانِهِ

يَقولُ هَذا مِلحٌ سيرافِ

And he praises the salt to his brethren,

Saying, 'This is salt from Siraf.'
