لَوif قَدindeed رَأَيتُI saw سَريريmy bed كُنتَyou were تَرحَمُنيyou pity me
لَو قَد رَأَيتُ سَريري كُنتَ تَرحَمُني
وَاللَهُand God يَعلَمُknows ماليI have no فيهِin it تَلبيسُdeception
وَاللَهُ يَعلَمُ مالي فيهِ تَلبيسُ
Had I seen my bed, you would have pitied me.
If you had seen my bed, you would have pitied me
Had you but seen my bed, you would have pitied me,
And God knows I am not misrepresenting it.
By Allah, He knows I have nothing in it but rags
And God knows well I possess no soft covering therein,
وَاللَهُand God يَعلَمُknows ماnot ليI have فيهِin it شايِكَةa single thing
وَاللَهُ يَعلَمُ ما لي فيهِ شايِكَة
إِلّاexcept الحَصيرَةthe mat وَالأَطمارِand the rags وَالديسِand the diss grass
إِلّا الحَصيرَة وَالأَطمارِ وَالديسِ
And God knows I have not a single thing in it
By Allah, He knows I have nothing on it but a mat
And God knows well I hold no hidden snare within,
Except the mat, the rags, and the diss grass.
Some sacks, and a pillow stuffed with palm leaves
Naught but the woven mat, the tatters, and the rough reeds.
