أَنا في حالٍ تَعالى اللَ

ه رَبّي أَيَّ حالِ

I am in a state—Exalted be the Lord,

My God, what a state I bear!

وَلَقد أَهزَلتُ حَتّى

مَحَت الشَمسُ خَيالي

I have withered away so completely

That the sun has erased my shadow.
