And there is no doorkeeper at Ibn Idris's door.
There is no guard at Ibn Idris's door,
No doorkeeper stands at the gate of Ibn Idris,
And there is no lock on Ibn Idris's door.
Nor lock upon the son of Idris's gate.
And upon the door of Ibn Idris, there is no lock.
طَرِبتُI yearned إِلىfor مَعروفِهِhis bounty فَطَلَبتُهُso I sought it
طَرِبتُ إِلى مَعروفِهِ فَطَلَبتُهُ
كَماjust as طَرِبتُyearned (vocalized as 'I yearned') زَنجَthe Zanj الحِجازِthe Hijaz إِلىfor الطَبلthe drum
كَما طَرِبتُ زَنجَ الحِجازِ إِلى الطَبل
I yearned for his bounty, so I sought it,
I yearned for his kindness, so I sought it
I was stirred by his bounty, so I sought his favor,
Just as the Zanj of the Hijaz yearned for the drum.
As I yearned for the Zanj of Hejaz's drums.
As the Zanj of the Hijaz are stirred by the drum.
