أَتَرانيdo you think I أَرىI shall see مِنَin the course of الدَهرِtime يَوماًa day
ليfor me فيهِon it مَطِيَّةٌa mount غَيرَother than رِجليmy foot
Do you think I shall ever see a day
Do you suppose I shall ever see a day in time,
When I have a mount other than my foot?
Wherein I have a mount other than my own two feet?
كُلَّماwhenever كُنتُI was فيin جَميعٍa gathering فَقالواand they said
قَرِّبواbring forward (you all) لِلرَحيلِfor departure قَرَّبتُI brought forward نَعليmy sandal
Whenever I was in a gathering and they said,
Whenever I am in a gathering and they say,
“Bring them forward for departure,” I brought my sandal forward.
"Bring near the steeds for departure," I bring near my sandals.
حَيثُماwherever كُتُI was لاnot أُخلِفُI leave behind رَحلاbaggage
مَنwhoever رَآنيhas seen me فَقَدthen indeed رَآنيhas seen me وَرَحليand my baggage
Wherever I am, I leave no baggage behind;
Wherever I may be, I leave no baggage behind,
Whoever has seen me has seen me and my baggage.
For whoever sees me, has seen me and my luggage.
