O my lord Shams al-Din, O you endowed with
My master, sun of faith, you whose nature
virtues like garden blossoms after pouring rain,
Became like a garden's flowers, free of thorns,

Whose thoughts, when they flow in the night of mysteries,
they grow clear as the moon at its fullness;
Become illuminated like the full moon at its height,

Whose resolution leads the noble ones, and determination
that jostles the two pillars of Yadhbul and Shamam.
That contests might, though it withers and fades,

So he can solve with them its complex lines,

Laying bare their nakedness, every seam.

Those of the scholar ʿAbd al-Ghafur first; then my refuge,
For the servant Abdel Ghafour, the eloquent one, grant me success first,
if those are not at hand, is ʿIsam for unravelling them.
For without your solution no bond will hold.

And remain a resort for excellence and learning, as long as there ascends
He whose blood was consecrated to nobility and knowledge
to the pulpits of boughs a preacher among the doves.
Never attained platforms of high minbars, though a preacher's dove.
