تَضُوع كَأَزهار الرُبى إِثرَ تَهطالِ
O my lord Ismail, after a greeting
My wealth Ismail, greeting has diminished
fragrant as hill blossoms after a downpour:
It withers like flowers after rainfall

كَما عُمّرت مِن فَضّة الثَلجِ أَطلالي
My courtyard has indeed been emptied of the saddlebag’s silver,
My arena has been emptied of silver dirhams
just as my ruins have been filled with the silver of snow.
Just as my ruins were filled with silver snow

So give at once—may separation’s hand never overtake you
So hurry, but don't let the evil hand of fate hurry you
with estrangement—to the supplicant the stipend for Shawwal.
With news for the petitioner of a known misfortune
