A greeting like the fragrance of a garden visited at dawn by fresh rain,

While ring-necked doves sing at evening in its grove,

Upon an abode of lofty summits and spacious grounds,

Where pride, excellence, and glory reach their utmost.

It has such eminence that, were the sun to alight in its precincts,

It would never be eclipsed, nor would any rival alarm it.

And a station surpassing all stations—a gaze has been cast

Toward it by Fortune, from the loftiest of its stations.

May God water and bless those dwellings,

For whose inhabitants longing lives forever within my heart.

Praise be to God for a night I spent within their sanctuary,

In lovely conversation whose delight surpassed honey.

Conversation such that, were a dead man summoned with its like,

He would answer and heed the call, even after a grave had enfolded him.
