أَحَبَّتناour beloved ones مَهلاًgently بِصَبٍّwith a lovesick man ملكتُمُyou have possessed
أَحَبَّتنا مَهلاً بِصَبٍّ ملكتُمُ
وَرِفقاًand gently بِقَلبٍwith a heart لُبُّهits core قَدindeed أَذَبتُمُyou have melted
وَرِفقاً بِقَلبٍ لُبُّه قَد أَذَبتُمُ
Our beloved ones, be gentle with a lovesick man you hold in thrall;
And be tender with a heart whose core you have melted.
وَحَسبُكُمand enough for you هَذاthis الصُدودrejection فَإِنَّناfor indeed we
وَحَسبُكُم هَذا الصُدود فَإِنَّنا
نَرىwe see عَظماًsomething grievous بِالصَدّin rejection وَالبينُand separation أَعظَمُgraver
نَرى عَظماً بِالصَدّ وَالبينُ أَعظَمُ
Enough of this rejection from you, for we
Find rejection grievous, and separation graver still.
