وما شككت بأني سوف أغتبقُ
On the morning of my thirst, I sent you my complaint,
I sent complaining to you at dawn of my thirst
And I had no doubt that I would drink wine that evening.
And I never doubted that I would slake it

وقدand indeed ترددتI went back and forth حتىuntil ملنيgrew weary of me الطرقthe roads
وقد ترددت حتى ملني الطرق
For I have written until my pen failed me,
For I wrote confidently until my pen betrayed me
And gone back and forth until the roads grew weary of me.
And I hesitated until the ways wearied me

You are a man whose generosity is a flood, and whose bounty
You are a man whose generosity overflows
Is a downpour; the heavy rain of your largesse pours down abundantly.
Whose bounty pours forth, whose outstretched hand gifts freely
